In 1995, 5 serial murder cases took place. Ko Makimura took charge of the murder cases and tried to catch the serial killer. Due to the killer's trap, Ko Makimura's superior was killed. The serial murder case has been unsolved to this date. 22 years later, a murder memoir "Watashi ga Satsujinhan desu” ("I am a Murderer") is published. The author describes himself as the killer responsible for the 5 unsolved serial murder cases. The author, Masato Sonezaki, has an attractive appearance and appears at a press conference for his newly published book.

University student Sugishita Nozomi, Naruse Shinji, Ando Nozomi and Nishizaki Masato end up coming upon the scene of the murder of the Noguchi couple, because of a plan they had devised. Nishizaki is arrested at the scene and is given a 10-year prison term because of his voluntary confession. 10 years later, Takano Shigeru, a former police officer who has misgivings about the verdict of this case, starts to pursue the truth. He is convinced that it all began as a result of an incident caused by Nozomi and Naruse on an island in the Seto Inland Sea in the summer 15 years. “They committed a crime at that time. The film opens strongly, with Dong Zi, a man suffering from insomnia who one night sees a woman in the opposite apartment building being stabbed and thrown off her balcony. With no sign of a body and with the flat having apparently been empty for some time, poor confused Dong Zi turns to his radio show psychologist girlfriend Yi Fan for help, who naturally suggests hypnotising him to get to the bottom of things. After it transpires that he seems to be confusing fragmented memories and dreams with his nightly visions, the two of them decide to head to the remote Nine Mile Village, where as a child growing up he may have been a witness to an unsolved brutal murder.
