Ko Eun-Bi (Ku Hye-Sun) is a medical student, but she dreams of becoming a musical actress. She thinks about musicals all day and even dreams about musicals at night. Hong Jae-Hee (Daniel Choi) comes back to South Korea. He used to compose songs for musicals, but now writes pop songs. His friend says that Jae-Hee changed because of his break-up with Bae Kang-Hee (Ok Joo-Hyun) 6 years ago. One day, Eun-Bi practices a song while out in a park and Hong Jae-Hee, who fell asleep in the park after drinking too much alcohol, is awaken by her singing. Jae-Hee tells Eun-Bi that he wrote the song "Maria Maria" that she is singing. Eun-Bi doesn't believe him. Jae-Hee advises her that without talent she shouldn't think of becoming a musical actress. Eun-Bi, ignoring Jae-Hee's opinion, decides to take time off from medical school to take part in numerous auditions. She fails all of them. With only 2 weeks left before she has to return to medical school Eun-Bi becomes desperate. She spots an audition advertisement looking for a male musical actor. Eun-Bi decides to take part in the audition dressing up as a man. Her ruse is discovered though by Yoo-Jin (Park Gi-Woong), an investor for musicals, and she is kicked out from the audition. In the bathroom of the audition, Eun-Bi meets a woman named Sa Bok-Ja (Park Kyeong-Rim). Bok-Ha insists she is a musical instructor and gives lessons to Eun-Bi. Bok-Ja even moves into Eun-Bi's apartment. Eun-Bi then decides to take a year off from school, believing that with lessons from Bok-Ja she can make her dreams come true.

The story is set in a high school in South Korea, in the spring of 1978. Hyun Soo is a student who transfered to JungMoon High School. JungMoon High School is militaristic school notorious for severe corporal punishment by teachers and power struggles between school gangs. One day, he plays basketball with his classmates and brings his team to victory, which allow him to become chumy with Woo Sik, a kingpin of the school.

Musical director Yoo Il-Han (Kim Rae-Won) is arrogant and has no qualms exaggerating the lengths of his talents. He was once a promising musical director, but, after the box-office failure of a big budget musical, he now works on children's musicals. Nevertheless, Yoo Il-Han dreams of one day working on Broadway in New York City. His big chance then arrives. A TV musical competition program is set out to select the main child actor for a big budget musical of King Jungjo from the Joseon Dynasty. The musical will be performed on Broadway. The setup for the TV musical competition program involves five musical directors as they each select one child actor to mentor. The directors then train their pupil and the TV musical competition eventually selects one child actor to play King Jungjo. Musical director Yoo Il-Han is one of the five music directors taking part in the television program. The first stage of the show involves each of the five musical directors turned away from the stage as they listen, but cannot see, various children auditioning for the TV program. Musical director Yoo Il-Han then selects a child named Young-Kwan (Ji Dae-Han), who turns out to be a half Filipino-Korean child. Once the first episode of the TV show program ends, Yoo Il-Han berates an assistant director of the TV program. He's furious he was allowed to pick a child, that he assumes has no chance of playing King Jungjo and blowing his chance to work on Broadway. Making matters worse for Yoo Il-Han, Young-Kwan possesses zero dancing abilities. Unable to change his selection, Yoo Il-Han half-heartedly begins to train Young-Kwan. He then begins to see something special in the child.

He soon realizes that he is back to the day of his high school entrance ceremony 3 years ago! Makoto (Kyoko Yoshine) transfers to Omotesando High School in Tokyo from Kagawa Prefecture. Makoto was enthusiastic in the chorus back at her old high school and she looks forwards to joining the well-known chorus at Omotesando High School. Additionally, her prior teacher, Ariake Suzuki (Yuu Shirota), is now an advisor of the chorus at Omotesando High School. He taught her the joys of the chorus. But, the chorus at Omotesando High School is now in decline and is set to be abolished. Makoto decides to rebuild the chorus.
