Moon-Ki (Bong Tae-Gyu) is involved in an accident and wakes up in the hospital. When he awakes, he can't remember his own name, family members or where he lives. Through fingerprint checks, he learns that his name is Moon-Ki and his address. When he goes to his home, Moon-Ki feels strange in the unfamiliar home. Moon-Ki then wakes up in the middle of the night and sees a woman (Park Shin-Hye) looking down on him. The woman tells Moon-Ki she is a ghost. Moon-Ki believes the woman is an illusion brought upon by his accident. Nevertheless, Moon-Ki later attends a funeral with the ghost and sees a photo of the deceased person. The deceased person is none other than the ghost! The ghost's name is Kim Yeon-Hwa. She was murdered during a robbery. Moon-Ki doesn't know why she has come to him. He even asks her if she wants him to catch her killer, but Yeon-Hwa says no. Yeon-Hwa tells him that a detective will catch her killer, but there is something more important than catching her killer and the reason she has come to Moon-Ki is buried somewhere in his memory.

Lee Yoon Ho (Jung Il Woo), a motorcycle maniac who engages in many fights at school and is known for his high kick, and Lee Min Ho (Kim Hye Sung), who enjoys spending time on scale models and web blogs, are brothers born a year apart but attending the same class at school. These two portray completely opposite Korean teenage characters in a comical way. And of course, there's the rest of the family. Their father (Jung Joon Ha), a full-time stock investor since being laid-off from work, nevertheless optimistic and reckless; their mother (Park Hae Mi), an oriental medicine doctor and always overly confident; their grandfather (Lee Soon Jae), who loves money more than anything in the world; their grandmother (Na Moon Hee), who is always defeated by her daughter-in-law in ongoing status quarrels, are some of them. Their uncle Lee Min Yong (Choi Min Yong) is a 27-year-old single dad. After going through a premature marriage and early divorce, he enjoys his life back in the dating scene with his half-single and half-married status, while continuing to encounter emotionally-involved moments with his ex-wife Shin Ji (Shin Ji) at times. Smooth High Kick! is a situation comedy, which portrays the everyday lives of the main characters colliding with each other in a comical way. However, at a certain point, the surprising mysteries of their seemingly-normal surrounding characters begin to unravel one by one.

Moon is a young misfit who has the abilities to talk to bugs. Moon has always been perceived as a "misfit" because she spoke baby talk too long. She has a crush on a boy named Hyland who works in a store owned by his father, across the street from her house. Unknown to Moon, Hyland has a serious problem with body contact with other people. Moon also meets Coochie, an annoying ladybug who speaks to her and becomes part of her daily life, advising her, but mostly annoying her. Moon meets a band of kids who also has abilities, including telekinetic twins, a high jumping teen, a fortune teller, a boy with x-ray vision that is a semi-pervert. Leading these misfits is a woman named Auntie who looks early to mid 20s but her actual age is 70. Auntie wants both Moon and Hyland to join her band of misfits because of Moon's abilities and Hyland's ability to dodge from other people's attacks, i.e. superspeed.

Jung-Rae (Kim Seung-Woo) is a director/writer that needs to get away from the city environment to concentrate on his script. He asks his friend and coworker to drive him down to the coastal city of Shinduri. Unfortunately, his friend, Chang-Wook (Kim Tae-Woo), already has plans for the evening…which includes a special date with a girl. The director, Jung-Rae, insists anyways and finally Chang-Wook agrees…if he can bring his girlfriend, Moon-Sook (Ko Hyun-Jung). Jung-Rae says that is fine and they agree to go all together. Later that day when the director is picked up by Chang-Wook, he is introduced to his girlfriend, who happens to be a big fan of his work. Once they arrive in Shinduri the director and Moon-Sook become better acquainted and quickly become more attracted to each other. Moon-Sook tries to clarify to the director that she is only friends with Chang-Wook, while the director clarifies the situation even more by asking her "Who would you prefer to be with?" When Moon-Sook answers that it would be the director, they soon find themselves sneaking out together at night and end up sleeping together at another hotel. The next day the director seems more uptight and makes it known that he is going back to Seoul because the beach town is too empty. He tells Moon-Sook that he needs some time to clear things out in his mind. The director soon returns back to Shinduri and calls Moon-Sook repeatedly on her cellphone. Even though she doesn’t answer the phone, Jung-Rae leaves a message asking her to come back to Shinduri to see him. Soon after the phone call, the director comes across another lady near the beach that he believes resembles Moon-Sook. While they become more involved, Moon-Sook has now returned to Shinduri.
