    Choi Hae Kab (Kim Yoon Seok) has been a leftist activist since his university days and having a wife (Oh Yeon Su) and three children hasn't stopped him from fighting the man. He makes documentaries about social issues, thumbs his nose at the government and raises his kids with a devil-may-care attitude. His children are used to his eccentricities at this point. Hae Kab doesn't mind if they don't go to school and he doesn't worry when his son Na Ra (Baek Seung Hwan, Silenced) runs away from home. One day, Hae Kab's old friend Man Deok (Kim Sung Kyun) shows up with bad news: their hometown, the southern rural island of Deul, is being sold to a resort developer. With a new fight ahead, Hae Kab picks up and moves the entire family back to Deul for a back-to-basics life.

The Korean war does not start well for the US. They are being routed by the North Koreans and In July 1950, the early stage of the Korean War, at the Jugok Village in the middle of the Korean Peninsula, Chang-yee and his friends grow excited over the amateur singing contest knowing nothing about what is going on around them. At the time, the US Army keeps losing and are pushed back to the village, evacuating all villagers to head south. The villagers took refuge like going on a picnic believing that the US Army is protecting them, they just follow their orders moving south bound. (But word is circulating among the US forces that Northern soldiers may be hiding among the civilian refugees.) As the villagers approach Nogunri, an American airplane suddenly swoops in and bombs the villagers and the US soldiers who were in a defensive position begin firing at them. The villagers fall to the ground NOT knowing why they are shot by the US soldiers. In the end, among the 300 refugees who escaped to the cave, only 25 miraculously survive the massacre, the fierce 4–day battle.

Set along the ‘Bridge of No Return’ in Panmunjom, the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea. One day, a border guard is killed by a rifle bullet; the suspected marksman is a South Korean soldier (Lee Byung-Hun), who is found wounded in the middle of no-man’s-land. This incident will have grave repercussions. Both North and South Korea regard the incident as an act of deliberate provocation. The North accuses the South of having committed a ‘terrorist attack’, while South Korea suspects the North of having attempted an ‘abduction’. Both sides appeal to the authorities of the neutral states (NNSC )for help and ask them to investigate the affair. A female Swiss army captain (Lee Yeong-Ae) of Korean descent is then sent to Panmunjom to investigate the death of the North Korean border guard.

Three North Shaolin teachers (Lu Feng, Chang Sheng, and Sun Chien) are called on by the Manchus to teach their soldiers and are urged to challenge the current South Shaolin teachers. They defeat the South Shaolin teachers and, that night, the head general (Wang Lung Wei) kills the South Shaolin teachers and blames their death on the North Shaolin teachers. The South Shaolin master sends more of his pupils, who are killed accidentally by the North Shaolin teachers. He finally sends two more (Wei Pai and Lo Meng) of his students to train with old masters and trains one student (Kuo Chui) himself with the goal of finally defeating the North Shaolin experts.

Ask any nursery-aged little boy what he wants to be when he grows up and he's bound to say policeman, fireman, sports player, or pilot. As for 20-year-old young man Taiyo Suzuki, however, he's had different aspirations all his life. Moved by his elderly nursery school teacher, Taiyo decided then and there that he too would also become one. Now, having passed the nursery school teacher examination, bright-eyed and eager Taiyo is out to make his mark on a totally female-dominated world. Posted at the Himawari Nursery School to cover for another teacher on maternity leave, Taiyo has but a few short months to prove himself to the female teachers and children's mothers who are arrayed against him that he is every bit as capable as the women. And more importantly, along the way, he'll make his mark with his sparkle and energy to be a true best friend to the children at the school as well.
